Pros and cons of Dictate + Connect Lite app for iPhone and iPad

Dictate + Connect Lite app good for

This is a very slick app, judging from this demo (the demo app is pretty useless itself - you have to fork over $10 for the real thing, but at least it gives the opportunity to test before buying). It seems to work very well (hopefully this is predictive of the pro version). It has a lot of download/upload/e-mail options, the voice quality is excellent, even with iPhone built-in mic, and it is easy and aesthetically pleasing to use. The one thing missing that will, if added, probably put it above its competitors (Ive tried four so far and found them all less impressive) is the ability to INSERT, rather than just dictate over, existing recorded sound.
Ive trialed about 5 different dictation packages so far. This one floats to the top. Very intuitive interface. Speech activated, w/excellent voice quality. Support response to questions was excellent.
Excellent program but only useful to evaluate the paid program as you can only record for 30 seconds. The paid program is the only one out there that I know of that resembles a real dictaphone
I bought sixty aplication and this one is simple but with 1fantastic function... You can made picture of yours background below buttons console . Voice activation is good - only few recorders have this function.(i check them all) need setting recording level and will be very good . Here u can compare 66 RECORDERS..... .......... .......... .......... www.Iphonerecorders.blogspot.kom ........... ........... ........... The page is still in progress so be patient.
I downloaded this demo to test the full fledged application. I dictate a lot of reports every year (100s) and have tired of the purpose built dictation recorders by companies such as Olympus. After spending $200 for a recorder and $70 for an external microphone from blue parrot, I am struck with the poor quality of the sound. This sounds great. Using the iphones built in microphone the sounds is 100 times better than my Olympus. I am buying the full fledged version. Certainly, the files are going to be larger than DSS files, but the sound is better and they could easily be converted to MP3. I even tried the app with my iPhone ear buds by Etymotic. Sound quality was great.
So far so good. Does what I need, which is mainly a quick To Do reminder recorder. But what I really want are some preferences that allow that functionality with an absolute minimum amount of taps: 1) open app, 2) tap "Record", 3) speak 4) tap "Send". Thats it. Tap and speak and tap and my voice note gets automatically sent to my email address. I realize this is not the primary purpose of this app, but why not add this "quick reminder" functionality, since all the components to make this work are already built in! All you need do is adjust some preferences. Then I can get rid of Note2Self, whose developer cant seem to make time to keep that once perfect app updated. Its been broken on either my iPad or my iPhone for about a year now. Come on guys, this is your chance to steal all of Note2sSelfs customers!!

Some bad moments

Maximum compatibility means a universal format that produces good quality with reasonably sized files — files that can be transmitted quickly and efficiently over 3G and even (dare I say it) EDGE. What is this wonder format? Its called MP3: an MP3 is a fraction of the size of a WAV of equivalent quality. Theres a reason none of us is listening to WAVs on our iPods. High marks for connectivity options. Low marks for WAV.
Ok Im not a total idiot, and am very familir with adaptive and dictation apps/programs, but this is not very user friendly for me. Idk if I just missed something or didnt give it enough time, but I couldnt figure out how to "overwrite" or "insert" a darn thing! Id have given it 5 stars if I could even get it to do what it says it could. And most of these programs want you to pay a truckload of money to have your dications transcribed, and wont let you save your recordings just for your own personal use, but require you to set up an acct & use your credit card to have a transcribed copy emailed to you, which may be helpful for many, but I couldnt even figure out how to insert or overwrite anything. I did get the full version to no avail. I obviously missed something, or it doesnt do what it says. Either way I found other apps that were easier, and free. Im sure in time theyll have those features too. But for what its worth, it IS a very useful feature to have, if its really there somewhere which is why I have it 2 stars... assuming it must be there somewhere but I just missed it. But if I couldnt figure out how to use it & got so frustrated I just deleted it to make room for more useful apps, then that speaks loads to its ease of use... which wont serve disabled users very well. Idk if there are disabled users whove had the same problems I had with just using the thing, but I imagine it must be. At least they advertised what the free version will & wont do & the limits imposed.... which makes it pretty much "a free trial" that isnt even free enough to really let you get a good idea of it before deciding to buy it.
I did not see anywhere on the description that free version was not a working version. It is just dummy version with screen shots and does not work. Very deceitful!
Please cant there be a recorder like this that can multi task. All I want to do is record and then use another app to take notes.
On my ipad2, there is a limitation of 30s for each dictation and I cant see anywhere on the settings that I can adjust that. A 30 second limitation renders it useless for medical dictation.
If your looking for something that only records for 30 seconds this is for you. Great that it is free though and good quality.
